NO PARKING ZONE
REVISIONS

At the September 14 City Council meeting, the council will vote on a 3rd reading of changes to the ordinance estab­lish­ing no parking zones.

The streets involved are Vine Street, Fair View Drive, Eleventh Street, Kellogg Avenue, and Linden Street.

Citizens are urged to review these changes and give feedback to their council members.

National Flood Insurance Program

Effective February 22, 2010 Dallas Center residents are able to purchase federally backed flood insurance.

Reminders

Time to trim those trees! When trimming trees overhanging the street the branches must be at least 15’ above the street and 8’ above the sidewalk. More info here

 

Remember that it is un­law­ful for any owner to allow an animal to run at large within the cor­po­rate limits of the City. Please put your animal on a leash!

If you have a US Flag that needs retired, drop it off at City Hall, and the Boy Scouts will take care of it for you.

Public attendance and input is always en­cour­aged at Dallas Center public hearings, City Council meetings, Eco­nom­ic Development Committee meetings, and other meetings listed in the Events Calendar.

Open Burning

Open burning is permitted in Dallas Center, subject to some restrictions.








Yard waste - grass, leaves, branches, twigs - will be picked up every Monday through November. Yard waste can be placed in any container other than your Waste Management container. Bundle sticks and branches in no more than 4' lengths, maximum weight 50 pounds or less per bundle. Yard waste includes grass, leaves, twigs, etc.

Yardwaste must be placed in yardwaste bags, paper grocery bags, cardboard boxes, or trash cans (not your 96 gal can). Leaves placed in plastic bags will not be picked up. Bundled brush (tied securely with twine or string) weighing less than 50 pounds and no longer than 4 feet in length may also be placed on the curb for collection.

Leaves, branches and other plant material grown or deposited upon your property can be burned between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm, from March 1 through April 30 and from October 1 through November 30 only, subject to the following:

Absolutely NO burning on the city streets.

Never leave a fire unattended.

Do not burn on breezy days.

Do not burn wet debris that causes excess smoke.

Fires must be extinguished by 8:00pm.
